Ya just keep bringing the joy. Could be interesting if they revisit the older albums. Cheers.

Oh man, I would love it if (hopefully when?) they revisited their older classics in spatial audio. But I could also say that about SO MANY other bands too! Hopefully, we will see a wave of atmos remixes, in the not-too-distant future... like all the classic albums that were eventually remixed/remastered on CDs from back in the day!

It's interesting how Steven Wilson and Gillies Martin etc approach Atmos. Not deviating too far from the source tracks ( so far ). Guess it's still early days before putting the pedal to the floor.

I tend to really enjoy Steve Wilson's atmos mixes. Top notch. Giles Martin is good too. Honestly, in these "early days"', I think the atmos mixes for electronic music are leading the pack though. Fritz Hilpert has helped out with reference-level atmos mixes for his band Kraftwerk, while also providing some absolutely fantastic mixes for albums from Booka Shade as well. Stefan Bock/David Merkl have put out some reference-level atmos mixes for Yello and Boris Blank (although the albums are not my favorites). And Hans Martin-Biff has put out some really excellent atmos mixes for Peter Gabriel's "i/o" (again, not my favorite, but great mix) and the Anyma "Genesis I" and "Genesis II" albums (which I need to upload soon... really enjoyed these two!) Anyways, it might not be rock 'n' roll, but them German engineers/mixers continue to put out some killer electro mixes in atmos! It seems like this style of music lends itself better to Atmos, with more "adventurous" mixes, and these dudes like to use all their tricks! That's just IMOHO though. I still dig my rock music too, and Wilson, Martin, Clearmountain, Soord have all put out some great stuff as well!

P.S. Someday, I'll get around to ripping my Hawkwind blu-rays with some fantastic 5.1 mixes by Steven Tayler. Too bad he won't do atmos, because these are awesome rock music mixes as well!

Agree with the electro perspective. Billie's albums are testament to that too. Recently noticed that the Taylor and Kacey mixes do a great job with the binaural head tracking soundstage so the possibilities for the more traditional band approach are there. Alice in Chains / Pearl Jam results vary. Decades of the ' meat and three veg ' punching from the front stage live or left, right and centre are hard wired into the DNA... Pink Floyd Pompeii soon, quad source I think. Looking forward to how far he takes it. Fun times for sure.
