I have ripped and seen many of these Spatial audio codecs from apple music that are supposedly given to AirPods instead of true eac3-joc. can someone pls explain how it works and what i need to run it locally? It looks like a average aac file but something else is clearly going on too, When i play it I don't get that spatial audio feel that Apple Music gives.
"aac-binaural" is an alternative way to experience Spatial Audio on Apple Music, it allows to play a binaural render encoded by Apple directly with their "afconvert" process, through regular wired/BT headphones, it also works on your iPhone/iPad speakers but it's useless (imo). It's effectively a simple AAC encoding, but from the Dolby master, using binaural encoding rules. "Real" Spatial Audio experience with ec3 stream, more accurate and more customizable is only through AirPods on mac/iPhone/iPad or Atmos-compatible setups on Apple TV/mac.
Thanks for the explanation but do you know how i can play it like the apple music app does, if i import one of these files into files it sounds a lot more stereo like.
Wait so you are saying that AirPods of all types receive the eac3-joc stream, and not the aac-binaural?
