I never share my links outside Sharemania so, I'M DEFINITELY SURE that someone from here keeps reporting my links, and you know what? I'm getting tired of it. It's mainly the reason why I'm getting lazy posting a thread or I don't feel like sharing at all. My Pixeldrain account has been banned about 5 times. It's so frustrating. The banned status will be lifted after one or two weeks, depending on how many files were reported. Right now, this is probably the highest number of reported files I've received, so I cannot use this account for maybe a month. I'm actually not sure if it will be reinstated because, as I mentioned, it's been banned 5 times. Gosh, I'm soooo mad!!!!
It is a good idea not to give an uploaded ZIR/RAR archive a descriptive and comprehensible name. It is also better to set a simple password for it. Pixeldrain (like any other file sharing service, Mega or MediaFire, for example) monitors your downloads, so for instance instead of "Miley Cyrus - Breakout [FLAC+cue].zip" you should upload something like "MCBr.zip" with a password (I usually use a simple password of 123 for my uploads). Just don't forget to specify your password for users. As I can see from the screenshot, your downloads have descriptive names, and they can be banned based on this. At the same time Pixeldrain, Mega or MediaFire cannot access password-protected archives to check them, so less chance of your uploads to be blocked.
My Pixeldrain also got banned a few weeks ago, it's VERY frustrating. It's getting hard to want to keep posting
That's a great idea! I actually thought of doing that. However, my problem is... I have a short term memory, and will surely forgot what those files with acronyms are.
I had my entire backup on Pixeldrain, it's not a matter of reporting it, the staff themselves are banning files or accounts, don't use Pixeldrain
Maybe making a google sheet with the acronym filenames in one column and the next column with the actual name or desc of the file could help...just a thought. Hopefully the bans stop for you!
I do not know if it's just how some people set it up, but I see OneDrive links rate limited on here with "too many anonymous link requests" often. It is a good idea though to prevent the bans
I use MediaFire. Not the biggest file service (10 GB with Free account) and they ban files, too, but if I use password-protected uploads with incomprehensible file names it works for me – at least for now. But it seems to me that Sharemania has reached the point when it needs its own torrent tracker or any other file sharing way, which is different from using all these very capricious, unstable and unreliable online storages.
Indeed. Most likely they have some sort of scanning software and a big database with banned titles. Case in point: when I shared a Lorde MV with the complete title, it was banned in the same day. After I uploaded it on the same service but with a non-descriptive title (just L.zip) and archived with a password, the file is still online.
This is another reason why I have stopped sharing as much as I used to. Files kept getting deleted and frankly -- I don't have the time and patience to keep uploading stuff when it does get deleted.
@olobersykes99 if i post pixeldrain links i typically delete the files after a few days up to a week or so to give the person/people time to download it and in an effort to keep the links from getting reported or taken down by DMCA, etc
