question for you. because i do the same thing, align the atmos track and flac with the mv and combine them. i built a script to do it using open source python libraries, which is super accurate in alignment. i used to line up the sample dots by hand down to the pixel by hand but it was too much effort, when the script i built is super easy and super accurate. i had also tried tools that claim to have track alignment such as scripts in reaper or DaVinci resolve but found they were not pixel perfect accurate like I wanted. Now, I've streamlined my script to be as simple as drag and dropping 3 files (video, flac, atmos) onto a batch script and a few seconds later its done. Wondering what kind of workflow you use to make these? (you don't have to reveal your secrets if you don't want to lol, just found it interesting to find others interested in making stuff like this)

And do you have a nice home theater system with Atmos height speakers to enjoy it? It really is an incredible experience, so immersive, and makes the regular track seem so flat. I've got a 5.1.2 setup with a 65 inch OLED and I love it, one day that's all getting upgraded when I have more disposable income.

Well, prepared to be dissapointed, lol
I just trow the video into Resolve to sync the Hi-Res track to the original one, I just go to the fairlight tab, zoom in and sync the dots, by syncing just one part all the song gets synced (unless it has cuts or extra sounds that needs to be isolated with mvsep, then add those Isolated sounds back to resolve), this just takes like 1 to 5 minutes to do, I do this specially cause I hate flac tracks in a video, I preffer the PCM for compatibility and for looks, a video looks more pro with a PCM track instead of a flac.

For atmos tracks It's way to different, I just play the video in any video player that can play external audio tracks for the same video, sync the audio, see how much ms +/- is and add that number into MKToolnix

If the MV has cuts or sfx I use Music Media Helper to extract the 9.1.6ch track from the EAC3 file, edit it in resolve (track also need to be patched, positioned, have an LFE filter and donwnmuxed to 7.1.4 to sound just like the EAC3 track, but objects visual movement gets lost, and if the MV has SFX or dialogue; I isolated them with MVsep and add them to the dolby mix as bed or new objects)

For subs, I just use the .lrc file from Apple Music, sync, edit, and romanize in Subtitle Edit.
For the mux I just use MKToolnix.

I always ensure that the MV/file looks as complete as possible, quality over quantity, even If it takes long to complete. But to be honest, I do this for me, I like having my MVs like this, the sharing part is an extra.

About my sound I have a 7.1.4ch soundbar, I agree that the experience is so immersive like this, I cannot live withouth height speakers (I also have a 5.1 system but I only use it for monitoring atmos mixing in that settings) and I also have 2 monitors (A 4K & a 1080p IPS LG monitors) and a LED 55inch TV that I use for editing preview, It's perfect as it since I can clearly see banding in dark shots (thats why I edited this video) that cannot be seen in newer TVs or phones.
I was planning on changing my TV for a newer one but I think this one is perfect for remastering old videos that has too many small details. I do need to upgrade my monitors lol

Thank you! That was actually really insightful and I appreciate you taking the time to write out a response like that. Especially the part about dealing with MVs that have cuts with the Atmos track. This is a challenge I've faced and so far haven't found a great way to deal with it. Your method seems like a good solution, despite losing the object movement. As far as I know, there's just no way past that barrier at this point for these lossy eac3 tracks, but with your method at least you get something workable rather than having to skip the video altogether, or chop the video itself up. As someone who shares a similar interest although maybe a bit of a different approach, I know that all the time and effort is all so worth it because figuring this stuff out, getting it to work, and experiencing the final product is so satisfying and rewarding. Glad to know I'm not the only one out there. I have sunk many hours into figuring out this process lol.
