Its from the original vob fila at fault. If you look at the sd, some of the frames are extremely blurry for whatever effect the producer made it. Nothing that he can do. It’s already a miracle to have this quality with the lack of sources out there.
Combed frames is due to the inverse telecine has nothing to do with blur or low quality. Perhaps the software he used has not completely removed.
oh yeah, didnt even noticed that. but once again, those are the scenes where the extreme blurry come out. dont really know what is possible to do with those...
Residual combing left over after the de-telecine. Used TFM mode=4, vinverse(), and QTGMC inputtype=1 and there is still residual combing. Nothing that can be done unless i were to interpolate the frames.
Try taking a look at the "Advanced parameters" in TIVTC/TFM page. Usually you just need to adjust the "pp", "cthresh" and scthresh to fix this.
Id rather not bother as I'm pretty confident I couldn't make an improvement. I tried multiple parameters and scripts, all result in combing. The only thing that removed it was QTGMC at a slower preset but it resulted in a significant loss of detail that wasn't worth it... I had to make a compromise and i'm sure the person who requested (markjunk) would prefer more detail over slight residual combing which after all, has been present in every version of the video on the internet...
I only commented because it can be fixed. but like i said if you don't bother it is perfectly fine. The upscale is great and a lot of people don't even notice it anyway.
