Hi, I know a lot of files are MP3's turned into FLAC and I was wondering is there a way using a mac to tell if a file is true lossless? I can not find anything that works. Thank you!
I do not know much about Mac's. But there is an app call Spek that works quite well. Again, I have no idea if it is compatible with a Mac. You can use your favorite search engine to find it. I hope this helps a little.
Thank you! I just downloaded it. How can i tell if they are true lossless or not? I do not know how to read the graph.
I am too new to that app. But from what others have told me, the higher the graph goes up, the better the quality. I have tested Lossless and Mp3 versions of the same song before. Only to have them both read the same on the chart. I do think that means that the lossless one was probably upscaled and was not true lossless. At least that is my limited understanding tells me. Sorry that I am not able to be more helpful. But I am sure there are some experts here on the board that could be more helpful with an explenation.
a 16bit FLAC file looks like this a MP3 320 file cuts off at 20kHz MP3 128 file cuts off at 16kHz I know this isn't it in depth but knowing this helps me out a lot & I can tell when an audio file is actually flac or just a upscaled mp3
