My laptop stops responding every two days while I'm doing anything on my laptop (even when I leave it overnight uploading). It started a few months ago after a weird virus messed up my laptop and I thought I'd fully fixed it. But it just keeps crashing and often has a popping audio problem and sometimes refreshs my desktop icons for no reason. Has anyone else had this problem or know of any good programs to try to scan for the issue. I'm using a Windows 10 laptop which is only about a year old, I wonder if it's being caused by a bad Microsoft update.

Have you tried Malwarebytes? I think the free one should do the trick.

That's quite weird..., I even doubt if a virus I'd want to do such on purpose. It sound more like hardware/drivers issues because of such randomness. Try to update graphic card drivers too.

The easiest way to know, is to reduce your main partition size, use the remaining space to create a 2nd one and you install a 2nd windows 10 instance on that new partition. Windows boot automatically detects and prompts a menu at start to select which one you'd like to boot.

I don't know if you are familiar with formatting and installing windows through USB drives. These days this process is really simplified, Windows has an USB install creation tool. If you install it automatically detects you licence and so on...

My C drive is a 120 GB SSD, my D drive is a 1 TB normal hard drive.

Back up all your stuff and do a fresh install. You never know for sure if the malware is gone otherwise.

Yes I'll try that as it must be a very hidden virus as nothing can find it.

    Try this

    1. Open your advanced power plan settings.

    2. Expand, open Hard disk and Turn off hard disk after, SCROLL DOWN TO NEVER, and click/tap on OK.

    :)

The best option is to reinstall Windows 10 from scratch, backing all your data first
the best program to update drivers is Driver Booster
Here I leave the file to activate it completely

I've been using the free version of Driver Booster 6. Where do I put this file?
